LG has introduced the Signature OLED T, a television with a transparent screen showcased at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. Touted as “the world’s first wireless transparent OLED TV” by LG, it features a 77-inch OLED screen, utilizing organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology commonly found in televisions and smartphones for digital displays.

The TV’s transparency allows for versatile placement – it doesn’t require wall mounting like traditional screens. When turned off, it can serve as a discreet room divider or be positioned against a window without obstructing the view.

“Practically invisible when turned off, the TV blends into the environment and frees users from the long-standing problem of what to do with the ‘big black screen’,” said the brand.

The television model employs wireless video and audio transmission technology, facilitated by LG’s Zero Connect Box. This box enables the transmission of 4K images and sounds to the TV, offering users the flexibility to place the model anywhere without relying on electrical outlets, as highlighted by LG.

An artificial intelligence (AI) processor enhances the screen’s picture quality. Users can seamlessly switch between two settings – transparent and opaque – based on their preference for how content appears on the screen.

“Content displayed on the transparent screen appears to float in the air, yet simultaneously fuses with the surrounding space to create a compelling and atmospheric visual effect,” said LG.

The design incorporates custom widgets, featuring an “info-ticker” on the lower part of the screen for displaying weather updates and news alerts. Additionally, users can transform the entire screen into an animated fish tank.

The Signature OLED T is offered as a standalone TV or with against-the-wall and wall-mounted options.

The TV offers both transparent and opaque display options. Presented at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the event showcases the latest in technology.

At CES 2024, LG is also introducing a two-legged house robot on wheels, utilizing AI for operation. Previous editions featured diverse products, from a voice-absorbing facemask by PriestmanGoode to Hyundai’s concept for a flying car.
